Spotlight Cosmetics Rising Star Lip and Cheek Paint Review and Swatches - Flattering Tints!

What is the Rising Star Lip & Cheek Paint by Spotlight Cosmetics? Is it A Paint, A Tint? Or a Stain?

Spotlight Lip & Cheek Paint is a truly lightweight liquidy and creamy gel tint or stain that is very blendable and has skin moisturizing properties. It comes in small non-breakable bottles that retail for around $6 or 300 pesos in the Philippines.

Because the formula is like a creamy liquid mousse gel combo, it is easy to apply and gives the skin a soft flushed tinted glow. Like Glossier Cloud Paint in a bottle but also more pigmented. I love the doe-foot applicator because it makes application fast and easy. You'll see this in action further in the review!

This is on sale buy 1 take 1 I think in Watson's for the entire month of June 2021 so if this doesn't go on sale for Lazada 6.6 sale and Shopee 6.6 sale, you know where to go!

Please note that this is a totally different formula compared to EB Advance Power Paint that I reviewed HERE as well as the Ever Bilena Lip and Cheek Roller HERE and the EB Advance Lip and Cheek Stain HERE. It's almost like if you combine all 3, then you get this! I will talk about why I said this later.

Each mini bottle of the Spotlight Lip & Cheek Paint comes with 10 grams of product and packaged in a black box that also has all the information that you may need. I can't remember the seal but I am pretty sure this came in sealed. To date, I have been using this for a few months and I am nearly out so you bet I got my eyes peeled for sales too!

The brand is also vegan and paraben-free btw so maybe I will write a blog post on my list of vegan and paraben-free brands in the Philippines too.

Spotlight Cosmetics Lip & Cheek Paint come in 3 shades. The shade names are on the sticker on the underside of the bottle.

The applicator is a typical doe-foot but I find that it carries enough product for application on both cheeks or for the lips. You can stretch one dip for the full application if you are going for the barely tinted look ala Cloud Paint by Glossier.

See what I mean? The product is a light creamy liquid with a bit of airiness to it like a liquefied mousse! So the lightness of a tint, opacity of a paint, healthy shine of a gel all combined.

Spotlight Cosmetics Lip and Cheek Paint Swatches Shades L-R

  • Playful maiden is a nude peach that gives the skin a sun-kissed look
  • Blushing fairy is a true pink that complements a variety of skin tones
  • Delightful maiden is a warm muted brick that would look great for those with warm and olive undertones

I have fair skin and as you can see, the swatches melted and melded with my skin. Unfortunately, I don't think this will work for those with very deep complexions. I wish they made a wine shade.

As for myself, I have taken to using this under other makeup and over makeup. I like this when I am trying to retouch but don't want to use powder because I can add this and this doesn't cake or smudge the existing makeup. Also, it is near impossible to mess up because the color is not too loud.

Some people may say that this is not pigmented enough and that the name 'paint' is misleading. I will half agree with that but since this is the way the product was made, I simply found a way to incorporate this into my current routine and found out that this is great for layering and for no-makeup-makeup days.

Honestly, I like the Spotlight Cosmetics Lip & Chek Paint but the other thing that I am saying is that I understand those who may not. I simply think of this as a no-mess Glossier Cloud Paint dupe and I'm happy with that because tipid hacks haha!

The photo below is how this looks like when applied over sunscreen and a thin base for a no-makeup-makeup summer freshness look.

I think that this formula is great for ageing skin and young skin because the finish is very forgiving and can make your skin look a lot nicer than how it really is. I was thinking that Spotlight Cosmetics is more like stage makeup but perhaps what they are going for is the tita (who is trying to still be bagets) market and hey, that's me! hahah!

Rising Star Lip and Cheek Paint by Spotlight Cosmetics Review Summary

  • Lasting power 3-5 hours but can be reapplied with no issues
  • Scent does not bother me and it is not strong or noticeable enough
  • Finish is really beautiful and you can apply this over powder so wow, right?
  • Value for money is sulit for me because Chinese and Korean products that are similar are around the same price range but you gotta buy abroad
I score this 4/5 not because I don't like this as much as I say. The product lost a star for the confusing bit with the name and all plus the lack of option for individuals with deep skin tone.
