REVIEW Megan Peel Off Mask ClayMask in Charcoal - Really Detoxifying and Lightening?

It's summer again and I realized that I haven't written yet about my perenial summer favorite, Megan Peel Off Clay Mask! My video review about the Megan Peel Off ClayMask was uploaded more than 2 years ago and since then, I have been using this mask to help remove blackheads almost every month. My favorite time to use this is during summer because my pores are more enlarged and my blackheads are more visible. You must have figured by now that this is a rave review but then, I don't really write about product flops anyway so yeah, keep on reading!

What is the Megan Peel Off ClayMask? What Are Clay Masks and Peel Off Masks?

The Megan Peel Off Clay Mask with Charcoal Extract retails for under 30 pesos. It is a type of mask that is applied on the skin and left to dry before peeling off. Blackheads and dead skin cling to the mask resulting in a deeper clean plus exfoliation.

I guess the peel-off part is self explanatory in the description I shared but the clay mask part is where I am unsure. Most clay masks that I've used in the past are rinse-off ones. I don't see clay in the ingredients either so I guess this is called as such because like most clay masks, this lifts off dirt and makes skin look clearer and more even, thus lighter-looking.

Please disregard the expiration dates in this photo because I took the photos for this blog wayyyyy back early 2019. Anyway the mask is good for 3 years after the manufacturing date and each sachet has enough product for several applications. I can stretch it up to 3 but I can usually use each sachet twice and that is for the entire face.

The consistency is reminiscent of Elmer's Glue but don't worry it doesn't feel the same.

How to use Megan Peel Off ClayMask?

  1. Cleanse face and dry. The mask will not adhere to an oily face.
  2. Apply Megan Peel-Off Mask evenly to the face and make sure to avoid the eye area and eyebrows
  3. Leave on 15-20 minutes or until dry. It is normal for the face to feel taut.
  4. Gently peel off the Megan Peel-Off Mask from the bottom toward to top.
  5. Marvel at how it lifted off blackheads, small hairs, and dead skin!
  6. Rinse with warm water followed with cool water.

I splash with cool water even though this is not in the original directions so to close down pores and calm any possible irritation. This is my secret for my skin to look even and not get hives.

Megan Peel Off Mask ClayMask in Charcoal Review - Really Detoxifying and Lightening?

The quick answer is yes. It is very effective for further cleansing if applied on a dry and cleansed face. I think it detoxifies by lifting off small impurities that are normally stuck on the skin and giving the skin a dull appearance. The brightening effect could be related to this too. When you exfoliate, you reveal lighter or brighter skin. 4.5/5 for me!
