Waking Up From Blogging Hiatus

I've literally gone silent for about 3 months and I'm not going to sugar coat the reasons why. I got burned out and got too busy. Beauty blogging is a hobby for me (not my career) and it just got to the point where I was spending more time on it than my real job and it wasn't healthy.

I also noticed that I was getting influenced by the "influencer culture" of hyping things up and wanting to be the first to post about "reviews" when the truth is they've only held the product for like a few seconds or swatched the product on their arm. That's not my style and trying to be more like  that really got to me. Instead of being an enjoyable hobby, blogging became a rat race thing for me so I got tired and decided to focus on my post graduate studies and detox from all the beauty blogging hoolabaloo for a while.

Anyway enough of the real talk. I'm back to blogging but not sure if I'll still continue posting review videos at YouTube. My videos are getting flagged as adult content because the channel name reads like a popular search term for sleazy youtube videos. I might have to change channel name, hahah!

I know I'm rambling at this point but I just want to make a note of this to remind myself not to fall into the same void in the future. I have plenty of nice things to share. They may not be "uso" or always talking about new releases but they are real. Real reviews that are meant to share information and document experiences...not just to gain views :)

Still alive and went to an event after 10,000 years hahaha! This will be in the next posts!

Oh, just an update...over the course of the past 6 months I lost 33 pounds and gained back 15 pounds...so in some photos I may look slim and in some I may look a bit bigger. I'll be posting about things I tried and beauty products I explored for the past 6-8 months. I'm really glad that I still took photos and notes even when I was not actively blogging. They're real documentation material of the time I was testing certain items.

I'm also thinking about focusing more on products and brands that matter to me so every now and then I might post about relatively unknown products. Isn't that what real blogging is about? Sharing discoveries? For some reason, blogging in recent times became synonymous with posting about whatever is the "in thing". Naging pa-hype na lang. Not my cup of tea so I'll keep creating in the way that I enjoy while being true to myself.

This blog is meant to be my "escape" from work and stress so please bear with me na ayoko ma-toxic makiuso. This is also why I don't entertain lots of sponsored crap and post about things I actually tried. Hope y'all get what I mean. Peace out, char!

More blogs (not rambling ones) coming soon!
